Bindaas Begum Rockin' Raja - Runwal Greens, Mulund

Had been to this place last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. When we walked into this place the first thing we noticed was the ambience which had a royal feel and touch to it. With pictures on the walls, the old electrical fittings, and huge chandeliers and painting you feel as if you have walked into some palace dining area.

The staff was quite friendly and ushered us to our table. We checked out the menu which had a good collection of dishes from different states of India and was elegantly designed.

We ordered for the following dishes:-

Paneer Charmoula: This was a grilled starter marinated in coriander, basil and a good measure of lemon juice. I would say it was grilled to such perfection that I hogged on it like a hungry soul.

Alu Tilli Achaar: This was a vibrant colored Gujarati stir-fried dish of baby potatoes tossed in wholesome ground spices and garnished with til (sesame seeds) and served with onions. Must mention that the potatoes were properly cooked and were quite tasty.

Bhutte Ki Karenji: A dish from Dhar region which is in Madhya Pradesh. As the name suggests it was made from bhutta (corn) mixed with spices and fried and served in the form of dumplings along with a spicy red sauce. Too good to have just one. It was one dish which made my palate tingle with pleasure.

Buulong: A signature mocktail with whipped blue curacao and vanilla ice cream mixed in fizzy coconut water. Quite well presented and refreshing to drink too.

Butter Kulcha / Onion Butter Kulcha / Butter Garlic Naan: All these breads were quite soft but made well and had a proper amount of toppings required.

Paneer Bahawalpur: The origin of this dish goes back in time ie 1940s. It is basically from Bahawalpur which is now part of Pakistan. The dish is made of Paneer and Bell peppers cooked in a thick delicious gravy and fried pieces of red chilies. Definitely worth ordering this dish and you will end up licking your fingers for sure.

Dal Bukhara: This dish really did justice to its name. Urad dal slow cooked in tomato puree with lots butter and cream. When I say lots it really meant in the literal sense. Foodgasmed on this along with Garlic Naan. Again I highly recommend it.

Murshidabadi Veg. Biryani:- This dish originates from the Nizams of Murshidabad and had a lot of flavors going on in it. Quite appealing to the eyes as well as the palate due to the richness in spices and flavors.

Big shout out for Kevin who manages the place and also helped us in surprising our friend on her birthday & to all the staff for their great service. We had a good time interacting with Kevin on the current ongoings of the restaurant.

My report card for Bindaas Begum Rockin' Raja:-

Ambience: 5/5 (Royal feel)
