Masala Kraft - The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai
Birthdays always call for celebration at a special place which you will remember for a lifetime. One such birthday celebration demanded a celebration at Masala Kraft. Had planned and booked this place via Zomato. On the day we arrived and we were greeted by Tushar who ushered us to our table which was specifically a corner table. It was very thoughtful of them to do such a thing as I never asked for such a seating specifically. It really shows how much they do value the guests who dine there.
The ambience of this place is a magic in itself with dim lighting which sets you in a happy mood.
We browsed through the menu and placed our order for starters & food. We were given complimentary pappadums accompanied with tomato garlic sauce which we loved.
We had ordered for Doodhiya Murg Tikka for starters which were boneless chunks of chicken cooked in lots of cream in a tandoor. The dish was strictly okay as I found some pieces of the chicken a bit too much chewy than the way it should be and that is tender. But as far as the taste goes it was good only dampening the experience because of the chewiness.
We had ordered for a Ginger Ale and a fresh Orange Juice and both of them were quite refreshing to have.
Later we ordered for Chicken Tariwala along with Aloo Dhaniya Kulcha and Roomali Roti. The chicken dish was an absolute classic preparation of a home cooked North Indian style cuisine. The gravy was full of flavors of spices and the chicken pieces were absolutely tender and to my liking. We ordered for Dal Makhani and Steamed rice which by far was the most satiating meal for me as the combination of rice with this creamy dal makhani was sooo good that I forgot the place I am sitting in. In short I foodgasmed on it and I over ate.
Chef Chetan visited the guest tables asking for feedback. He was really kind enough to offer us a dish when he found out the chicken starter we ordered was not as per our liking. I am generally not a person who can say NO to food but after eating all this I actually couldnt eat more and another thing was it being a weekday I couldnt afford to fall sick after over-eating. Chef Chetan did say he will take the feedback and implement it in the future dishes. He made it a point to convey the feedback to the manager on duty Mr. Anant who visited our table to check about the matter. Also, special Thanks to Mr. Deepak who was waiting our table and made sure we were well attended to all the times.
I had ordered for a Red Velvet cake from La Patisserie for the birthday girl and it was delivered to Masala Kraft for this special occasion. We clicked pictures sang the Happy Bday song and cut the cake. All in all a really splendid way to celebrate special occasions.
Later as we asked for the cheque the chef sent us his complimentary dessert which was Pan flavored ice cream which had this whlesome flavors of an actual pan with the betel leaf pieces hidden in every bite and a yummy fresh rasmalai which melted away in our mouth. Digged into it and in a matter of minutes it was over. All in all a really splendid way to celebrate special occasions.
What made the entire visit worth a while was that mostly all the staff at Masala Kraft knew that we were celebrating a birthday and they made it extra special with their wishes. A place that definitely deserves a visit in Mumbai.
