Golden Tulip - Amritsar

We checked into this hotel in Amritsar via Booking.com. Moreover, because it was 3 Kms from Golden Temple. Had booked a 2-night stay at the hotel from Jan 14 - Jan 16, 2018. A special occasion of our life. The weather in Amritsar was really cold at that hour of the day.

The front desk made us feel more than welcome and within 10 mins we were shown to our room on the 4th floor. The interiors of the room were quite plush. A queen size soft and cozy bed with all essentials of the room were quite a catch. Since it was cold we didn't turn ON the AC of the room. The bathroom was quite spacious and was equipped with toiletries. The view opened to the street side with some construction going on towards the right side of the property. Not much of a view to brag about as such. The saving grace was the sunset that you can see from your room as this was a North West facing room.

They do have a Sky Lounge on the 5th floor which boasts of a bar and a swimming pool and sun deck. A beautiful place where you can click some pics. During our stay, I didn't see much people at the bar but there were people using the swimming pool.

During night, however, we used to turn ON the AC so that the room temperature could be maintained at a certain degree Celsius.

Our package was inclusive of Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel as during the day we were mostly out. The onsite restaurant which is located on the 1st floor of the property dishes out some good food both Veg and Non-Veg. For 2 days and nights, we enjoyed a good breakfast and dinner. The only drawback was the curd that they had was sour. I anyways don't have curd much but even my partner felt it was sour for her palate. Overall we loved the different dishes that were on display on both days as our major food lust is for non-veg cuisines.

No matter what time of the day you step out of the hotel you will always see rickshaws parked out in the vicinity of the hotel in case you don't get an OLA or Mega cab on time. And their charges are quite reasonable. However, be warned of certain rickshaws which you will find outside malls and the temple who overcharge their customers. A safe bet would be to hire a rickshaw from your hotel vicinity and go for a round trip. They will wait for you as you do your shopping.

I had requested the front desk to arrange a cake on 15th Jan at night just to surprise my partner and they did help me out with it. For me, such small gestures from the hotel staff help a lot. It definitely shows that they are not just in it for the business but also for the satisfaction of the customer who stays in their hotel.

A truly good place to stay in Amritsar.
