Charcoal Biryani, Bhandup
Got an invite for the menu tasting at Charcoal Biryani. I had heard about all the good reviews of Charcoal Biryani and finally, it was time to taste the food.
Picked up the food from their Bhandup Kitchen outlet. Being a foodie has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that you get to taste different cuisines. The disadvantage only being before you eat you click pictures for your post/blog. You are actually depriving your taste buds of the food the moment you see it because you are busy clicking pictures.
Had got Kalmi Tangdi Kebab, Butter Chicken Biryani, Classic Chicken Biryani & Strawberry Souffle.
Kalmi Tangdi Kebab: A really succulent piece of chicken leg marinated very well with well-balanced spices. A little bit spicy but full of flavors and the meat very tender that it comes off easily from the bone. Yummilicious.
Butter Chicken Biryani: This was one full biryani and the portion was really good to share with 2 people. The rice was rich in color with fried onions garnished on top. However, I found that the butter chicken biryani had less gravy of the biryani as compared to the classic chicken biryani. Also, the flavor of the butter chicken biryani could not create the impression on my palate as the classic chicken biryani. There was less richness of the butter in the biryani and also it tasted somewhat different than the butter chicken gravies I have tasted.
Classic Chicken Biryani: Now this is what a biryani truly is. Though I only got a half biryani of this. The moment I opened this I fell in love just with the visual part of it. Though I would recommend using a little bit of saffron flavoring to the rice for the colorful visual appeal. In terms of the gravy in the biryani, it was apt. The gravy coated the rice really well. The chicken pieces were tender and well marinated with the rich marination that exploded in your mouth with every single bite. I simply have one word for this biryani and that is Piquant. It actually stimulates your palate with the spiciness and richness of the gravy. This biryani will always be my regular eat if and when I order from Charcoal Biryani.
Strawberry Souffle: This is a wonderfully light dessert. Fluffy frozen dessert. You take a bite of this and you are in seventh heaven. It is rich and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness added. I don't like too much of sweet. There were pieces of strawberries infused in it that played hide and seek with your mouth. At times you bite them and at times you don't. Yummilicious.
