Saj On The Mountains
Had a plan brewing on my mind for quite some time but was unable to decide on the place. Had shortlisted a lot of places in Mumbai itself since it was raining esp beach properties. But finally chucked it all away for a place nestled in the foggy mountains of Mahabaleshwar. Discovered this place via a friend of mine and it came highly recommended and hence I said why not give it a try.
Reached the place around 1 pm and met Mr. Mahesh at the reception finished all the formalities and checked in to our room which was a cottage room facing the forest. Mr. Mahesh was very helpful in expediting the formalities and also informed us that we will be getting a late check out since I had told him I was celebrating a birthday and the occasion was quite special. Anyways, coming back to our cottage room, it was a cozy room with a double bed in the main room and two single beds in the adjoining room which opens to the forest view. Saw a nice wooden swing placed in the outer area but since it was raining heavily we skipped sitting and enjoying it. We called up the reception to check the wifi connectivity but since they were experiencing some network issues that day they said that the wifi is unavailable in the rooms but can be accessed from the cafe.
Freshened up and headed to the restaurant area for lunch which was Gujarati and Rajasthani Thali. Loved the spread and we feasted till our tummy was full. The staff in the restaurant were quite hospitable and kept coming to our table enquiring if we needed anything else.
Took rest after a sumptuous meal and played some cards and evening we headed out to the open air cafe for dinner. The climate was foggy with continuous rain and it was pleasantly chilly. Dinner spread was from Pani Puri to Italian much of everything you would want to lay your hands on. Food was quite tempting but since we had too much in the afternoon we could eat (though we didn't eat less). Finally, we had a dessert and took a walk in the drizzle clicked pics and finally retired to our cottage.
In the morning we woke up to the noise of rain falling and it was very chilly though we hadn't put the fan or the ac in our room. Got ready enjoyed a truly satisfying breakfast and after making a promise to come back soon we left on our journey back from the fantasy land to the reality and hustle bustle of the city.
Overall an amazing stay at the resort is a perfect place for couples as well as families. Though I feel that the hotel should put up little more games especially for the kids so that they would enjoy as much as the grown-ups. The staff and management were very hospitable and welcoming. Definitely worth the visit. Special Thanks to my friend Kevin Gandhi for recommending this place to me.
