Persian Darbar, Marol
It is very rare that when you dine at a place and really praise about it too. We visited this place on a weekday night. Had heard about it from friends so decided to visit it. We were escorted to the first floor of the restaurant and Mr. Imran showed us to our tables and Mr. Laxman was the man-in-charge of attending our table.
The ambiance of the place is very soothing with the decor giving you the feel of Persian decor The guests were mostly couples, colleagues meeting up after office hours and family. We browsed through the menu to decide on the starter. Since I was unable to decide it I asked Mr. Imran to help me with it and he did a wonderful job at suggesting me the starter as well as the main course keeping in mind what I exactly wanted. We ordered for Rumali Masala Papad, Murgh Nawabi Tikka, Chicken Persian Special Biryani, Sweet Lime Juice & Caramel Custard.
Rumali Masala Papad is quite a new for me as its the first time I had consumed masala papad of this size and variety. They make the rumali roti crisp enough and coat it with spices and add the masala papad mix (onions, tomatoes, and coriander) and also add some actual papad broken down to small pieces and is served along with spicy mint chutney. Quite good in taste.
Sweet Lime Juice was made as per my liking as I had told specifically not to use much sugar. Calories you see.. lol
Murgh Nawabi Tikka was succulent tender chicken pieces stuffed with minced chicken marinated with wholesome spices mixed with herbs. Eat and every bite of this chicken dish just melts in your mouth like butter. Now, this dish was indeed Yummilicious for me.
Chicken Persian Special Biryani was actually served in a stainless steel pot covered with a thick roti beneath which they had an aluminum foil so that the aroma is intact. The moment they open the foil the aroma fills up your nostrils. It takes you to a completely different world. A little bit of rice is put at the bottom and layered off with the chicken gravy and then topped off with more rice. The chicken pieces were with bone and were tender and perfectly well cooked in the gravy. They do charge a bomb for this biryani but all I can say is that the charge is well justified with the quantity they served. It can be easily shared generously among 3 people. I being a foodie had a difficult time finishing it and since I don't like wasting food I did manage to finish it. It was so good that I couldn't say NO in spite of my tummy being full.
Caramel Custard was well made and was wibbly wobbly (jelly-like properties). Melts in your mouth no matter how big or small bite you take. Perfectly well balanced.
Highly recommend:- Murgh Nawabi Tikka & Chicken Persian Special Biryani. Also, do try their Rumali Masala Papad & Caramel Custard.
My report card for Persian Darbar, Marol:-

I highly recommend this place. Definitely, a must visit if you are in Mumbai. I am definitely looking forward to try their other branches.
